Alzheimer’s disease and its related dementia like conditions destroys lives for the old and the young as well. Those who have it, the worst, though not always knowing they have it. For the younger people, those attempting to help them, physically, emotionally, and even financially, they suffer with it as well.

There has never been a cure. There have been attempts at ameliorative medications, but in reality, no substantive program or treatment has been successful, even marginally.

Since the late 70’s an into the early 80’s when the world started to take a medical notice of Alzheimer’s disease, not much has really been accomplished. Interestingly the disease was first diagnosed and recognized by Alois Alzheimer in 1908, who was a German psychiatrist. the first diagnosis was made on a woman who was 53 years old, relatively young, even by those years’ standards. But today it is destroying generations and the prediction is to increase 4 fold in the next 25 years. It is not going away, no vaccines are being produced nor are there other viable treatment options in the fold.

But now there is a new program rapidly expanding globally.   A new process and not from some startup company who has no experience in the medical field. No, this approach is from  Storz Medical from Switzerland who has been very much in evidence with sister companies since the mid 40’s . They are a giant in the creation and proliferation of countless different pieces of medical equipment which have revolutionized the field of physical therapeutics and various noninvasive treatments from lithotripsy to shoulder therapy to diabetic treatments to name a few.  The company’s expertise, research and design capabilities and extensive experience bring it to now look at a new application to work on an area which is overtaking a significant segment of the world’s population.

Covid has devastated Caribbean economies and families alike over the past two years. Medical clinics/hospitals in Caribbean countries cannot afford the NEUROLITH technology to successfully treat Alzheimer’s patients. .  Our plan is to donate the equipment to a clinic, and the train doctors (geriatricians or neurologists) at no cost to the clinic.

SWT Therapy is spearheading the fundraising efforts to give patients in the Caribbean suffering from Alzheimer’s access to this life-changing therapy.  In the event that insufficient funds are not raised to achieve objectives by our deadline of August 25, 2022, all funds will be donated to the Jamaican Alzheimer’s Association.

First, a clinic in Jamaica will service surrounding Caribbean countries. The next step is a mobile clinic to provide access to these life-redeeming treatments to an even wider area.

Storz Neurolith has developed a novel treatment for an old disease. They are transferring technology from their bone therapy programs to cerebral therapies and looking to ward off a disease process which we all fear in our futures.
